Sampdoria are an Italian football club who feature in the Italian Serie A. They are one-time winners of their domestic title and have also claimed the Coppa Italia on four occasions, whilst also reaching the European Cup final in 1992 when they lost to Barcelona. Sampdoria, also known as the Blucerchiati, have an established local rivalry with Genoa, with whom they contest the Derby della Lanterna. Historically, their most famous and celebrated players are Gianluca Pagliuca, Moreno Mannini, Pietro Vierchowod, Attilio Lombardo, Roberto Mancini, Gianluca Vialli, Francesco Flachi, and Fausto Pari. Vujadin Boskov was the head coach of Sampdoria during their famous run to the European Cup final. Their home for well over a century has been the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, which they share with Genoa, which has a capacity of nearly 37,000 spectators.
