Millwall bounced back from three games without a win to comfortably defeat Nottingham Forest 3-0 for one of the more surprising results of the weekend.

The difference between the sides proved to be Matt Smith, who scored every goal of the game.

Not only was it a hat-trick, but it was a hat-trick scored in just 13 minutes inside the first half as he opened the scoring by stooping low to send a diving header past the keeper for his first.

He was fortunate to claim the second as Jayson Molumby's strike deflected off his foot into the net, while it was another header to claim the third, this time after a towering jump at the back post.

Stoke humbled Hull to a 5-1 defeat at the weekend, with Sam Clucas emerging as the man of the match against his former club.

He scored the second and the third of the game, with the first coming via an emphatic finish into the top left corner inside the box after possession dropped fortuitously to his feet. Then, to make it 4-0, he drifted in at the back post to guide a header up and over the goalkeeper.

It was an excellent overall midfield outing as he contributed in both attack and defence. He sent 14 passes into the final third, had four touches inside the box (two of which being goals), while he also won 100% of his tackles and aerial duels.

After a disappointing run of five games without a win, Brentford returned to form in magical fashion with a 5-0 result against Sheffield Wednesday, with Josh Dasilva contributing two of the goals.

Both goals displayed Dasilva's composure inside the box, as he calmly passes a half volley into the net after the ball broke to him for his first.

The second, to make it 4-0, saw him cleverly roll his marker, using strength to hold off the tackle, to earn a yard to squeeze a finish into the left corner.

He misplaced just three passes the whole game, and won 5/7 duels.

Nick Powell benefited from the superb work of two of his team-mates as he found himself perfectly positioned to score two for Stoke in the win over Hull.

It was the former Man Utd midfielder who opened the scoring after arriving late at the back post to bullet a header at goal following the cross from Tommy Smith, with the keeper unable to keep it out despite getting a hand to it.

Stoke would go on to dominate and score three more before Powell claimed his second with a neat finish a couple of yards out after good play from Tashan Oakley-Boothe.

After a tight opening hour, Bristol City versus Fulham burst into life as the hosts took the lead.

Luckily for the Cottagers, they had Tom Cairney to rely on as their captain would eventually equalise late on with a lovely, curled effort into the bottom left corner from just outside the area.

He completed 61/71 passes, 36 of which were sent into the final third which was more than anyone in the Championship. His 104 touches were also the highest tally of anyone.

HONOURABLE MENTION

Eberechi Eze (8.3) recorded a goal and an assist for QPR as they continued their impressive recent run of form with a 3-1 away win at Preston.

ROUND TO FORGET

Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson (4.5) conceded five against Brentford and only made one save, while giving away possession 15 times.
