Alanyaspor bounced back from two consecutive losses in the league to defeat MKE Ankaragucu 5-0, with Djalma the star of the show, netting three goals as well as assisting Anastasios Bakasetas for another. His first and third goals displayed superb composure as he slotted a pair of finishes into the bottom corner while through on goal, with him showing impressive strength to hold off the challenge of the defender for the former. Sandwiched in between was a header from a yard out as he completed a fairly emphatic striking performance.
Another player from the Turkish top flight now in the form of Yilmaz, who scored two and assisted another as Besiktas' outstanding league run continued after a 4-1 defeat of Kayserispor. After previously being a bit selfish a couple of times previous, he eventually helped to open the scoring with a slid through-pass for Atiba Hutchinson to score. Both of his own goals were very different, as the first was brilliantly lashed into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, while the second couldn't have been tapped in from a lesser range. He also completed three dribbles, and made three ball recoveries.
It looks like Ajax have another young superstar on their hands, this time in the form of young forward Lang, who scored three goals in his very first Eredivisie start for the club. Although not a conventional centre-forward, instead operating wider more often than not, his hat-trick displayed a know-how of where the ball would drop inside the box. His first, assisted by Hakim Ziyech, was a well-taken finish into the right corner from 10 yards, while his second saw him hold his position at the far post to fire in a rebound after the ball became loose. The third was just as opportunistic as he took advantage of a fumble from the Twente goalkeeper to steal possession and pass into the empty net to make it 4-2 to the champions. He sent 17 passes into the final third, and won the majority of his duels and tackles, too.
Fischer was in superb form for Copenhagen as they beat Brondby 2-1 in the city derby, scoring both goals to be the match winner. After initially going behind, the home side had to recover and did so through the inspirational former Ajax man, who equaliser with a brilliantly cool, passed finish into the bottom corner. His second came from basically the same position, only this time he showed more composure to take a touch and reverse a strike into the opposite corner. He was by some distance the best player on the day, sending 22 passes into the final third, winning the majority of his duels, and making six ball recoveries.
Austria Wien made it three games without losing this weekend after destroying Hartberg 5-0, with Christoph Monschein scoring three of the five. He may have been among the goals, but this could be described simply as a pure striker's performance as he actually didn't play particularly well apart from putting the ball in the back of the net. He lost 6/8 duels, and completed just 8/14 attempted passes for a completion rate of 57%. Doubt he will care, mind you.
