Real Madrid paid the penalty for a defensive horror show as they fell to a damaging 4-1 defeat at Valencia in La Liga.

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Domenech - 7.6:

The Spanish goalkeeper may have conceded one goal to Benzema but he played a key role in Valencia's win with a number of excellent stops. In total, Domenech made five saves to frustrate Madrid.

BAD PERFORMANCE

Raphael Varane - 5.2:

Not the first time this season that Varane has had a horrific evening for Real Madrid, and he was the worst player on the pitch at Mestalla. Not only did he score the own goal that put Valencia in the lead at 2-1 just before half time, he also made no tackles and won none of his four challenges.

Sergio Ramos - 5.2:

Sergio Ramos was just as bad as his defensive partner as he also put in an error-prone performance. Along with Lucas Vazquez and Marcelo, Ramos was also responsible for conceding one of the three penalties. He won five of his 12 duels and four of his seven aerial duels as he failed to dominate as he so often has over the years.

STAR MAN

Carlos Soler - 8.7:

A hat-trick of well-taken penalties from the 23-year-old helped Valencia to a famous win over the Spanish league champions. The treble means that Soler has already surpassed his goal tally from the whole of last season. Regarded as one of Spain's most gifted youngsters a couple of years ago, he will now be hoping this acts as a springboard to realise his potential.
