Leicester City duo Jamie Vardy and James Maddison lead the line in the Premier League Team of the Week after their impressive dismantling of Brighton at the King Power stadium.

Maddison (8.8) struck twice in the contest, the second a glorious curling shot into the top corner as the Foxes made light work of the visitors in a 3-0 victory.

But he was ably supported by Vardy (8.1), who collected two assists and a goal of his own, while James Justin's (8.3) display on the right was one of a young English player gradually looking more accomplished at this level.

Southampton produced another eye-catching display to defeat hapless Sheffield United 3-0 and their centre-back pairing of Jannik Vestergaard (9.3) and Jan Bednarek (8.2) were both excellent in the contest as was holding midfielder Oriol Romeu.

Further ahead, Liverpool's midfield dominated the second half and their failure to win wasn't down to the energy and effort of Jordan Henderson (7.7) and Curtis Jones (7.7), the 19-year-old producing arguably his best performance for the Reds to date.

Elsewhere Miguel Almiron (7.8) scored the fastest Premier League goal of the season, netting after just 19 seconds as Newcastle moved clear of the bottom with a good win over West Bromich Albion.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's (7.4) penalty at Goodison Park gave the fans back in the stadium for the first time something to cheers as they defeated Chelsea 1-0, while in goal, Emiliano Martinez (8.7) made a round-high seven saves at Aston Villa ground out victory at Wolves.
