BATZMAN FOREVER

On Tuesday, German fourth division side Saarbrucken shocked the country when they eliminated Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf out of the DFB-Pokal at the quarter-final stage - to reach the semi for the first time in 35 years.

That, however, is just half the story.

Goalkeeper Daniel Batz was the hero of the night, as he saved a penalty during normal time and then, when it went to penalties after a 1-1 draw, he went on to save FOUR more during the penalty shootout!

Saarbrucken eventually won 7-6 on penalties, and subsequently joined Bayern in the semis. Bayern, who are no less than 56 places higher than them in the current rankings of German football.

GIGNAC STILL HAS THE NACK

At 34-years-old, Andre-Pierre Gignac is still really, really enjoying his football down in Mexico.

The Frenchman has scored seven goals in seven games in 2020 so far, including a hat-trick against Pumas recently. For his hat-trick goal, he stunned the Tigres faithful with a quite sensational bicycle kick, which you can see below.

MORTIFIED MAUBLEU

With neither promotion or relegation looking likely for Grenoble at the moment, they don't have much to play for in Ligue 2.

However, questions need to be raised about whether goalkeeper Brice Maubleu was thinking about his summer holiday when he inexplicably tried to throw the ball out from the back and instead flung it back towards his own goal. His comedy scramble to run back and claw the ball off the line was ultimately in vain, as it gave Caen a 2-0 lead which they would keep.

This isn't a new phenomenon in football, but how can a goalkeeper simply forget to release the ball?!
