Liverpool kept their top four hopes burning in the Premier League with a well-deserved 2-0 win over a toothless Arsenal side.
Jurgen Klopp’s men firmly had the upper hand prior to taking the lead midway through the second half via substitute Diogo Jota.
A second was soon added from Mohamed Salah to secure the points as the Reds closed to within a couple of points of Chelsea.

✔ Trent Alexander-Arnold: 7.3
Dropped from England duty, Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was more like his old self in this game after a number of difficult weeks.
Just as the Reds started to become frustrated, perhaps even thinking that the goal they deserved was not going to arrive, he produced a wonderful cross that was headed home by Jota.
On an evening upon which Liverpool looked their old selves, Trent was among those who were most incisive. Also had a hand in the third goal.
✔ Thiago Alcantara: 7.5
A target for critics after a high-profile move from Bayern Munich last summer, Thiago was the player who made the play for Liverpool. He provided them fluidity in the centre of the field and was typically heavily involved in much of their play.
Little of what he does is spectacular, but much of it is effective.
✖ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: 5.9
Arsenal were toothless throughout this encounter, and it is difficult to single out a player who was especially bad. Martin Odegaard did not have the influence he would have liked, while Alexandre Lacazette was not a factor at centre forward.
Aubameyang, though, is supposed to be Arsenal’s offensive leader. Having been given a big contract last autumn, he has failed to live up to that billing and gave an entirely lacklustre display as the Reds dominated the game.
⭐ Diogo Jota: 8.5
Jota might not have been on the park long, replacing Andy Robertson after an hour, but his impact on the game was profound.
He headed home the opening goal three minutes later and blasted a third with nine minutes remaining that put the seal on the victory.
Jota is staking a very real claim to become Klopp’s go-to No.9.
