Real Madrid 3-4 Real Sociedad: report, match stats, player stats, and player ratings

Santiago Bernabeu was stunned on Thursday night as a stunning quick-fire double from their Swedish attacker Alexander Isak sent Real Madrid spinning out of the Copa del Rey 4-3 at the hands of Real Sociedad.

Isak's contribution was stunning; the first a superb swivel and scissor kick into the far corner, before minutes later collecting to the right of the area and lashing a missile into the top corner, giving Alphonse Areola absolutely no chance.

Isak later provided an assist which put la Real 4-1 up before Vinicius Jnr thought he had pulled a goal back only for VAR to rule it out, then Rodrygo did indeed make the scoreline 4-2 moments later. Nacho made it 4-3 late on but the Basque had done enough - just - for victory.

But the evening belonged to Isak; he hit seven shots total including three on target, and though Isak is not a player to get deeply involved in a match - he had just 24 touches during his 70 minutes on the pitch - boy were his contributions massively important to a huge win in a brilliant contest.
